Breakpoints
Table of Contents
Breakpoints refer to amounts of damage that are annoying to defend against. Attacks with on hit effects are more powerful if they are breakpoints.
An attack for 4 will hit if it is only defended for 3 by a regular card. Snatch
is perhaps the archetype breakpoint card. An attack for 7 will hit if defended with two cards, and so on. Attacking for 5 ensures that not even a 4 defense card can stop the effect.
In order to cover breakpoints you can use equipment, 4 defense cards (defense reactions, block cards) or cards that have “split” defensive value such as Shelter from the Storm
. When loaded up with Temper and battleworn equipment, it can be a good idea to make sure that you always have one of these equipment pieces at 1 defense. If you have to defend a 4 power breakpoint with a card from hand plus an equipment block for 2, you have wasted 1 block value.
Knowing which breakpoints to expect from a particular hero is important to making sure you get the best value out of your equipment and defensive cards.
Guardian breakpoints
For Guardians, breakpoints are a bit different. Most of our cards have crush! Since our cards need to deal 4 or more damage to hit, our lowest breakpoint is 7, or 8 if we want to get over a defense reaction with 4 defense.
